Vessel Safety Checks
A major component of a fun filled outing is a reliable boat which has all the required safety equipment.
A free vessel safety check (VSC) is an important safe-guard, and our certified examiners will be happy to perform the check for you.
There are no consequences if you don't pass. Our goal is simply to help make boating as safe as possible for you, your family and your friends, through education.
The United States Power Squadrons and the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary are partners in this valuable program offered to the boating public.
All examiners are certified and trained on the latest requirements.
The Vessel Safety Check is similar to the review that is performed by the U.S. Coast Guard if you are boarded, except that it is voluntary, and only you receive the results.
EVEN EXPERIENCED BOATERS NEED A VESSEL SAFETY CHECK!
- Owner / contact Name; email address & phone no. for response
- A brief description of your boat (size, sail, power, PWC, paddlecraft)
- Location of the boat (Note: it is not necessary for the boat to be in the water, please indicate if you would prefer to have the inspection performed on a trailer and if you are able to bring the boat to the examiner)
- Any questions you might regarding a VSC
A certified Seneca Squadron Vessel Examiner will then contact you to answer any questions and to confirm a location, date and time for the VSC.
(*) Please note: a Vessel Safety Check (VSC) is for personal pleasure craft only. This site is not meant to be used to request inspections on commercial boats such as the Six-Pack or Commercial Fishing Vessels. If this is what you are looking for, contact the closest US Coast Guard unit for assistance in getting an inspection. This link will help you find the closest unit: www.uscg.mil/top/units/.
