Jeff Mack is a husband and father, artist, resident glassmaker, and manager of hot glass programs at the Corning Museum of Glass. Jeff is also a novice sailor and aspiring navigator. He owns a 1973 Sabre 28 sloop (kept at Village Marina, sailed on Seneca Lake) and additionally, a trailerable 15-foot Menger catboat (kept in his garage, sailed where adventure calls). He has crewed on an e-scow, racing a season with the Keuka Yacht Club fleet and now enjoys skippering his own Sabre “Tina” crewed by friends and family with the Finger Lakes Yacht Club. Jeff’s seamanship has benefited greatly from programs, and courses offered by the Sail and Power Squadron, as well as from guidance, local knowledge, and wisdom shared by it’s many members and friends at Seneca Harbor.

Jim started sailing in 2007 on beautiful Seneca Lake with his wife Susan. They learned a lot that first summer, most importantly how to reef early! Never having been seriously involved with boats led Jim and Sue to conclude they needed to learn and the Power Squadron provided that education along with all of the great boating friends they have made in Watkins Glen. Jim and Sue are both power and sail boat owners and enjoy cruising. They have rented a boat in San Diego and managed to motor it out of the bay and into the Pacific Ocean and back safely.

Jim enjoys taking the classes and giving back as an instructor.

Maggie Martin has been sailing with her husband John Chesebrough for about 20 years, starting on a 22-foot NorthStar on Cayuga Lake, to keep the kids out of trouble on weekends. (It worked!). She is an artist, and often does paintings of sailboats. Until recently, they spent winters on their Cheoy Lee in Florida. Among their adventures were trips to the Dry Tortugas and Cuba (and back). Five boats later, they now keep their 30-foot Hunter, Plein Air, in Watkins Glen Village Marina on Seneca Lake.
